Once a month we will be sharing a marine species reported via the Fair Isle Marine WhatsApp group. This group is a space for community members and visitors to the isle to share any interesting marine finds. These reports also contribute to marine species records for Fair Isle to help monitor changes in biodiversity.

This month we have this Greenleaf Worm – Eulalia viridis which was found at Mavers Geo by Luca. These are a type of paddleworm which are distributed on rocky shores across the British Isles. They are commonly found in rock crevices and amongst kelp forests and are known to feed on barnacles and mussels.
Greenleaf worms can grow up to 100mm in length and 250mm in width. Their bodies are divided up into over a hundred segments.
