
The Fair Isle Marine Research Organisation (FIMRO) have recently accessed funds made available through SMEEF to recruit a self-employed researcher/marine consultant to review and synthesise Fair Isle DR MPA research and project progress over the last 5-year period (2020-2025).
The post-holder will be asked to produce a report including a cross-disciplinary summary and analysis of the substantial research outputs to date, outlining our current understanding of the Fair Isle marine ecosystem and identifying the implications of this developing knowledge with regards to potential management measures, further research and community-based citizen science.
This role would ideally be suited to a post-graduate level candidate with a good knowledge of marine ecosystems and issues relating to their conservation, and with experience reviewing and synthesising multidisciplinary research outputs. This will be a 5-month full-time position ideally starting from November 2025 and finishing up in March 2026 in line with the project funding period.
