FIMRO were delighted to be invited to exhibit at this year’s Shetland Climate Festival. This was a brilliant opportunity to showcase the work of FIMRO and the Fair Isle Demonstration and Research MPA.
On the 15th of June, Katie (Fair Isle DR MPA project officer) was joined by Grace and Freyja Parnaby, who were representing the Fair Isle Marine Research Organisation (FIMRO) to exhibit at the Shetland Climate Festival, at the Clickimin in Lerwick. This was a great opportunity to talk to a variety of people about the work of FIMRO and the Fair Isle DR MPA as well as hear what work is being done by other local organisations and businesses in Shetland to tackle climate change. There were also various workshops geared towards informing, involving, and empowering the community in various Climate Change topics.
This was our first event using our new leaflets and pull-up banner – kindly supported by Fauna and Flora’s Community Support Fund. We look forward to using these more at future events and conferences. Many thanks to the event organisers for having us, we look forward to coming back in future years.
