Leogh Andrew fishing diaries
Tim Merrick @ Focal Plane Photo
During his lifetime, island resident Andrew Eunson kept a diary, not only detailing day to day life, but an account of maritime activity around the Isle from 1913-1953.
In the diaries he listed the weather for the day, any vessels passing or working around the isle, including the activity they were engaged in, fishing trips undertaken by islanders and records of their catches. To safeguard this detailed documentation of historical fishing activity around the island, FIMRO commissioned and funded the digitisation of the diaries.
Since their digitisation, the content of the diaries has been made available to several academic research projects linked to the Fair Isle DR MPA.
